After serving in the United States Air Force for four years, Mr. Pierce began working in the retail industry over 20 years ago.  His career began with W.R. Grace Company.  After becoming District Manager of the Atlanta District, The Home Depot convinced Harry to come aboard with them.

With The Home Depot, Harry was sent to South Miami to run their highest volume store.  After only 6 months, he was promoted to Associate Merchant.  A short and successful 2 years later, Harry was once again promoted to Merchant.  After transferring to the Northeast a year later as a senior merchant, Harry assisted in opening and developing this division. Receiving a corporate promotion after 2 years in the Northeast Harry moved back to Atlanta to become Director of Merchandising Information Services.  Harry led the 2-year project of writing all new base table and performance reporting for the Merchandising Department.  He was then promoted to Vice President of the Western Division and relocated to Los Angeles.  In one year, Harry became the President of The Home Depot Western Division. During his 12 year career with The Home Depot, Harry's advancements within the company as well as his achievements were unprecedented.  He was the youngest person in company history to hold each of the positions in which he served. Upon retiring from The Home Depot in 1996, Harry started 3 companies in Rome, Georgia: Planet Diamond Tools, Blue Horizon Gloves, and Big Time Products, LLC, with each of these companies doing anywhere between $5-30 million sales annually.

Mr. Pierce has four children and two grandchildren.  He is married to the former Terri Burkhalter.
